The Visit of New SEAMEO Secretariat Director

Visiting SEAMOLEC on 4 January 2008, the SEAMEO Secretariat (SEAMES) Director, Dato' Dr. Ahamad bin Sipon was escorted by Mr. Wahdi S.A Yudhi, Deputy Director for Program & Development of SEAMES; and some personnel from the office of Ministry of National Education of Indonesia. The aim of his visit is his introduction as the new SEAMES Director continuing his predecessor, Dr. Edilberto de Jesus. Dato' Dr. Ahamad bin Sipon was Director-General of the Ministry of Education, Malaysia before his present position. Besides his visit at SEAMOLEC he also visited SEAMEO BIOTROP and SEAMEO TROPMED.

Prof. Paulina Pannen, a former SEAMOLEC Director accompanied by her staff welcomed the arrival of the SEAMES Director and his party. Before short welcoming speeches from the SEAMOLEC Director, the guests watched video presentations on SEAMOLEC and continued with the presentation of division's programs by SEAMOLEC Managers.
Dato' Dr. Ahamad bin Sipon explained the highlight of the 43rd SEAMEO Council Conference in Malaysia on March 2008. Among them, there are three interesting issues to be exposed, they are issues on access, equity and quality of education, among other education policies and initiatives. The meeting ended by having an Indonesian typical meal "nasi kuning" for lunch together. They then were guided to tour around the premises and facilities of SEAMOLEC new building. The visit ended up with taking group photos together
