Empowering Educators: SEAMOLEC and Ma Chung University Host Interactive Virtual Class Workshop

SEAMEO SEAMOLEC Collaborates with Ma Chung University to Organize Interactive Virtual Class Workshop on March 5-7, 2025, as Part of the 2025 Learning Innovation Program

Based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on September 11, 2024, Ma Chung University and SEAMOLEC have committed to organizing training programs to prepare the university for Distance Learning program and enhance the quality of education.

One of the implementations of this collaboration is the Interactive Virtual Class Workshop, designed for all lecturers at Ma Chung University. Over three days, the lecturers were equipped with knowledge and skills to develop interactive classes. The training materials included lesson plan development, an introduction to the Nearpod platform, and the utilization of various interactive features such as games, interactive slides, and student reporting systems.

Additionally, participants were assigned to create lesson plans and design virtual classes using the Nearpod platform as a practical application of the materials learned. The primary goal of this training is to create a more engaging and effective learning experience for students by leveraging the latest educational technologies.

The Rector of Ma Chung University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Stefanus Yufra M. Taneo, MS., M.Sc., emphasized the importance of this training for lecturers, particularly in addressing the challenges of generational differences with students.

“This training is highly strategic and essential for lecturers, students, and the institution. SEAMOLEC, as an organization focused on distance learning, delivers materials based on their practical experiences. This training equips us with the skills to utilize the latest educational technologies to enhance the effectiveness and interactivity of learning,” explained Prof. Yufra.

Through this training, it is hoped that lecturers will further develop fun, interactive, and up-to-date teaching methods, fostering greater enthusiasm among students in their learning activities.

“This step also demonstrates Ma Chung University’s commitment to improving the quality of education in the digital era,” he added.

As part of the event series, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between the Director of SEAMOLEC, Dr. Wahyudi, and the deans of the four faculties at Ma Chung University. This MoA signifies a commitment to organizing training programs for lecturers to improve the quality of education at the university. Dr. Wahyudi also held a talk show session discussing innovations in learning.

“Innovation happens when there is internal motivation. To be innovative, we must be ready to become inspirational learners. Moreover, in facing Gen Z students, the approach must be taken with care and understanding of their needs. When lecturers assign tasks, they should aim to spark students’ curiosity,” he stated.
