In a significant step toward advancing digital education, SEAMOLEC and Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) officially solidified their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the SEAMOLEC office. This partnership marks a shared commitment to enhancing the quality and accessibility of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) across Indonesia, ensuring that more students and educators can benefit from innovative and inclusive educational solutions.

The signing ceremony was attended by prominent leaders from both institutions, including Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Bafadal, Vice Rector I of UM, Prof. Dr. Suyono, Director for Education of UM, and Dr. Juharyanto, Head of the Center for Media and Learning Resources. Representing SEAMOLEC were Dr. Yaya Sutarya, Deputy Director for Administration, along with SEAMOLEC managers and staff who witnessed the historic agreement.

The event began with a warm welcome from Dr. Yaya Sutarya, who highlighted SEAMOLEC’s dedication to fostering digital education initiatives. In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Bafadal echoed this enthusiasm, emphasizing the need for adaptive, high-quality ODL frameworks that can meet the evolving demands of Indonesia’s education sector. Both leaders stressed the importance of this collaboration in driving meaningful progress toward equitable and future-ready learning solutions.

Through this partnership, SEAMOLEC and UM will work closely to develop and implement cutting-edge ODL programs, including specialized training in Learning Management System (LMS) management, instructional design workshops, and the integration of modern pedagogical approaches such as Inquiry-Based Learning and Gamification. These efforts are designed to empower educators with the tools and knowledge needed to deliver engaging and effective online learning experiences.

By combining their expertise, SEAMOLEC and UM aim to create a lasting impact on Indonesia’s education landscape. This collaboration not only seeks to improve the quality of digital learning but also to expand its reach, ensuring that students and educators—regardless of location—have access to world-class educational resources. As the partnership progresses, both institutions remain optimistic about their shared vision of a more inclusive and technologically advanced education system for Indonesia.
