SEAMEO RETRAC become the lead center for research on factors of teachers’ motivation and how to link the comparative research with Teacher Competency Framework that enhances teacher Satisfaction and motivation in Southeast Asia. It is one of the follow up actions after the SEAMEO Council approved the Southeast Asia Teachers Competency Framework (SEA-TCF) to be used for teachers in the region.
SEAMEO RETRAC invited the representatives from 11 SEAMEO Member Countries to share their experiences and lessons learned in the implementation process of SEA-TCF. The activity was a “Regional Workshop on Teacher Competency Framework, Teachers’ Satisfaction and Motivation”. The workshop was held on April 18-19, 2019 at SEAMEO RETRAC, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.
The participants who attend were from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippine, Singapore, and Thailand. SEAMEO RETRAC also invited representatives from SEAMEO Centres; SEAMEO CELL, SEAMEO RECSAM, SEAMEO SEAMOLEC, SEAMEO QITEP in Science, and SEAMEO Secretariat. SEAMOLEC sent its Research and Development staff, Mr. Dona Octanary to participate in this event.
The workshop identified what elements from the SEA-TCF contribute to teachers’ motivation, and at the same time, it identifies others factors that will bring about teachers’ satisfaction in Southeast Asia context. The activities also conducted to validate the instrument in order to find out about Teachers’ Satisfaction and Motivation in Southeast Asia. Each representative was asked to distribute the instrument to the teachers in their respective countries.
