The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for STEM Education, or SEAMEO STEM-ED seeks to develop the capacity of educators in the region as well as innovative learning resources and education tools. With the recent COVID-19 pandemic it urges to develop a better understanding about microbes causing disease, the body's immune system and the means of fighting disease with vaccines among teachers and students.
The Centre has collaborated with Dr. Margaret Whalley, an eminent microbiologist who has long experience of scientific research and teaching in microbiology and the Sirindhorn Science Home, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) to organize the programme Teacher Workshop and Student Video Competition on Vaccines: fighting disease. The programme consists of 2 phases:
1. On-line Teacher Workshop
2. Student Video Competition
B: Objectives
This programme aims to increase understanding among teenagers of how vaccines work and how they are used to control disease in children.
C: Expected Participants
The expected number of participants are approximately 220 teachers participating in the Workshop and 220 entries for Student Video Competition from the region.
